Grand Master Jung, Byung Hwa
GRAND MASTER - King Tiger Tae Kwon Do
King Tiger TKD has been offering instruction and training in Tae Kwon Do in North Carolina since 1988. Formally known as King Tiger Academy, it was originally founded in Korea by a ninth degree black belt, Grandmaster Jung, Byung Hwa, in 1959. By his late twenties Grandmaster Jung had achieved mastership in Tae Kwon Do and had served extensively in the Korean Military, teaching troops hand to hand combat skills through the art of Tae Kwon Do. In 1959 Grandmaster Jung opened the first King Tiger Academy in Seoul Korea. Today, there are over one hundred and twenty King Tiger Tae Kwon Do schools on four continents with over thirty in Seoul alone. One of the first US King Tiger Academies was established by Master Byung Seouk Lee in Greenville, NC in 1988. Since then our training and philosophy has become one of the fastest growing programs on the East Coast - a great source of comfort for the soul.

Philippine Combatives™
PHILIPPINE MARTIAL ARTS
Eskrima (also known as Arnis and Kali) is a weapon - based martial art which comes from the Philippines. It is the national sport of the Philippines, and has a very long history of combat effectiveness. Only recently has this art become more conspicuous in many countries and enjoyed by other more traditional asian arts. Its difference from other martial arts is that the student is taught to train with weapons from the very start, rather than starting on empty hands training (like many martial arts do). This type of training builds manual dexterity in the practitioner and also trains faster conditioned responses to various attacks. Although it is weapons based, it also includes striking (kicking and punching), wrestling and grappling, and even groundfighting, as well as teaching practical defenses against commonly used weapons.
Philippine Combatives™ is the style of Philippine martial arts taught at King Tiger Charlotte. It is a composite of various classical and modern fighting systems used in the Philippines. The student is introduced to the various systems in the full range of fighting. An emphasis is placed on self-defense drills to train the student to react instinctively from far range (malayo) medium range (medyo) to close range (malapit). read more >>
